How did Rutherford’s experiment change our atomic model?
Explain why Thomson’s “plum pudding” failed.

Rutherford’s gold foil experiment showed most alpha particles passed straight, but a few deflected—meaning atoms are mostly empty with a dense, positively charged nucleus. Thomson’s “plum pudding” (uniform charge) couldn’t explain this.
