Why does a bulb glow brighter when connected directly to a battery than when connected via a resistor?

Ohm's law: V = IR. Adding a resistor reduces the current (I), meaning less energy reaches the bulb, so it glows dimmer. Direct connection = maximum current = brighter glow!
